A year ago, my friend noticed one of my taillights was out, so I went to Honest-1 to have it replaced. They took care of it on the spot, and charged me nothing at all; said they were happy to help me out. I've since gone back for oil changes and tire rotation--every time, the mechanics and manager were friendly, up front about pricing, and truly honest about what my car needed or didn't need. That last thing is what prompted me to write a review today. My son bought his first vehicle, a 1980 GMC Jimmy for barely more than what it would have cost for the seller to have sold it for parts. It's definitely a fixer-upper, and we found out that it was not even going to pass emissions to get it registered. Needs a transmission, body work . . . it's going to be quite a project. We brought it to Honest-1 for their opinion. They spent a full morning going over the Jimmy, and gave us a very detailed list of what was going to need to be fixed. Here's the amazing part: I was fully prepared to spend at least $500 to do the first big job that I figured I'd need to do to get past emissions . . . and these guys wouldn't take my money. They gave me alternate advice, which got me what I needed for the time being, and charged me nothing. They even tightened belts and topped off fluids FOR FREE, just so my son would be on the road a bit more safely while he saved up enough money for the big job (transmission!). Their parting words: "Just stay safe, and call us when you're ready. We'll be here when you need us." No upselling me into a part or job that I didn't need or couldn't afford, no pressure, no guilt. These are guys who really care about customer service, and in an age of "make a buck, no matter what," that's unbelievably refreshing. These will be our mechanics for life.
